Gothica Magnifica

Gold and silver bangles dance across thin limbs. The beast's elegant movement seems to be a mockery of the emaciated body. Oily strands of sparse mane grows at odd angles along the sickly neck, while sprouting in clumps from the tip of a limp tail. A pair of black, mutilated horns & harsh lines create a draconic-equine face; sunken eyes are glazed white, stark against the leathery ebony skin of the beast. They carry the musty scent of a forgotten tomb; earthy & faintly of old mold and can glide through crowds with unnerving ease.

A resemblance to the apparition of Death himself, Gothica Magnifica makes no allusions to their purpose in this finite world.

As many Qui'lin that have gathered in the Light, so do they have siblings that are never spoken of, but are unequivocally necessary to the health and balance of this world. They are the creatures of the Dark, denizens of the night, keepers of death and renewal and of places that most folks are afraid to look upon, especially within themselves. Emperors and dynasties have needed blessings from the Light and heavenly trappings, so too do the same royal lines make sacrifices to the Dark; many times to protect their positions of power over what is good and right with the Light. Gothica thrives on these cursed mortals, for their foolhardy & doomed souls add polish to the 'magnificence' in Gothica Magnifica's presence. Their ambitions and revenge cause so much death, so much war, and it is these corrupted souls that Gothica ushers to the next life, taking the twisted souls to their deserved fates, leaving the lighter souls to the work of others. A lost mortal's mistakes are Gothica's boon, the well-spring of magic that sustains the many creatures born of pure Yin energy.

Qui'lin of the Light are renowned for their pleasant voices, their chime-like calls, and their predictions of fortunes. Likewise, when Gothica Magnifica must speak, a chill is felt in any who are destined to hear it. First, a weight alights harshly upon the heart of the unlucky, then, in their final moments, it becomes known that their life's misgivings have been tallied.
